Chapter 17
The Lord’s Day, and through the week. At Compline. The Close of the day.
Thee, before the close of day,
Maker of the world, we pray,
Of Thy pitying love to keep,
And protect us while we sleep.
Far let night’s dark phantoms fly,
Let no haunting dream come nigh;
Keep us ever chaste and pure,
From our midnight foe secure.
Gracious Father, grant this boon,
Grant it, Sole Co-equal Son,
With the Spirit thron’d on high
God through all eternity.
