That those who believe in the Lord must be baptized into the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Ghost.
Mt. xxviii. 19; Jn. iii. 3; 5.
What is the inner meaning1 or the power of baptism? The change of the baptized in mind, word, and deed, and his becoming, by the power given, that very thing2 of which he was born.
Jn. iii. 6; 7; 8 τῆς φωνῆς for τὴν φωνήν**; Rom. vi. 11 ¶, 3–7; Col. ii. 11 add τῶν ἁμαρτιῶν K; 12 omit τῶν before νεκρῶν [at this point some MSS insert a fresh title, summarising the teaching of the next two quotations]; Gal. iii. 27; 28 ἕν for εἷς*; Col. iii. 9–11.
