Chapter 71
What the Scripture says about bishops and presbyters jointly.
κατὰ συνάφειαν. B.’s view of a vexed problem in the Pastoral Epistles seems to be that which predominates in recent scholarship, namely that by bishops and presbyters the same persons are meant.
1 Tim. iii. 1; 2 ἀλλὰ δεῖ for δεῖ οὖν**; v. 1; 2; 2 Tim. ii. 22–24; iii. 10; 11 τῇ ἀγάπῃ and τῇ μακροθυμίᾳ omitted**, order of other words changed; Tit. i. 5; 6.
