First by the test which is most important, that of sympathy, according to the apostle’s words:1 Whether one member suffereth, all the members suffer with it”’2; and3 Who is made to stumble and I burn not?4 And secondly if he is grieved at every sin in similar fashion, and sorrows and is distressed over all sinners, both those who sin against himself and against others, and in rebuking them does not destroy the manner given us by the Lord.
